State Guidance for Hemp Laboratory Testing

Federal and State Guidance for Industrial Hemp/Pre-Harvest Testing

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) oversees federal testing rules for each state and tribal production plan. Their website offers information about the approval status of each state’s production plans. Once a plan is approved by USDA, it remains in effect unless suspended or revoked by USDA pursuant to the procedures described in the Interim Final Rule, or unless the State or Tribe revises their plan.

State Testing Guidance for Hemp/CBD Products

While testing for THC levels is a federal requirement at pre-harvest, product safety tests are now being required in most states. For some states, additional contaminant tests are needed prior to processing and prior to reaching retail shelves. SC Labs collected state guidance information across all 50 states and has organized it as follows.
